Would-be Self: To become less like a “queen” worthy of fear and more like a “princess” worthy of love. A princess being someone who can be spoiled and adored but also expected to take on some responsibility with no one blinking an eye.

In a word, a “queen” can generally suffice in explaining the entirety of who and what Keiko is as a person. Obviously vain, clearly confident with her choices, judgmental of others and quick to take control of any situation as soon as she's able; she can absolutely be classified as a textbook example of a storybook villain. Unlike a stereotypical villain, however, her morals are generally in tact and she is more than willing to fight for what she thinks is right in the world: dreams, passion, and the desire to change.

Keiko’s methods for getting what she wants can be extremely ruthless- although she does not usually overstep the line in which her actions could be seen as strictly horrible and unwarranted. That is the sort of single-minded cruelty she positively abhors and any reminder on the subject often leads her to preach loudly on the subject at any given time. Luckily, Keiko generally only seems to intervenes if something happens that she believes will affect someone in the long term- even if she does not specify what that might be, specifically.

Despite her over-the-top ego being as large as it is her feelings are often fragile and rather easy to tear apart: with a sharp and cynical word or bitter phrase against her she can be sent down into a teary eyed mess of frustration. Typically she tends to keep these “out of character” moments to herself, as she likes to keep these moments of emotion private, and if she senses one is coming up she will go out of her way to excuse herself as soon as possible. More often than not she will attempt to run if her emotional well being is on the line.

After growing up in a less-than financially stable home with an absentee father for the entirety of her life, only recently has Keiko been able to admit to herself that her childhood was, in fact, a little rocky. Her mother, Haruka, conceived her while in the midst of her freshman year of college with a man ten years older out of wedlock. Due to a lack of family support and the sudden disappearance from the father entirely, her mother was forced to quit school and raise Keiko completely on her own.

Haruka was a hard worker and Keiko grew up relatively well, however money has always been tight, and got tighter still once her mother had tracked down her father for child support. Eventually she would have two more children with him, Souichiro (15) and Kenta (12), although the two of them saw just as little of their father as Keiko had. Eventually they would move into a small apartment complex next to an old dojo, and Keiko would be introduced to a precious childhood friend.

Keiko spent the majority of her early days in school passively and doing her best trying to appease the most amount of people possible, which garnered her a lot of friends both in and out of school. She was already a tall girl at even that age, so it was enough for her to just get away with not being picked on for her height. Ironically, however, this led for her closest friend to be picked on instead, and at the time she had made a choice to turn a blind eye to it, and hoped it would go away.

As she aged, her resolve finally hardened and she became the more confident and boisterous person she is today: however at her core she is still the same girl looking to be liked by the people around her. It was during her second year at Seiyo that Himeko was born- after burying a letter to her future self on campus. She realized she’d grown an inert desire to truly become that person she had been tried to be as a child: although as time passes that dream seems less sweet and more tart with envy and bitter with tears.
